Here are some great and different ways to include literacy throughout the different content areas.  

K12 Reader

This website provides resources for reading instructions and strategies. It is more informational and gives an overview of the areas under reading instruction. It also gives lesson plans and worksheets and other resources that parents and teachers can use.

This website incorporates science and literacy.  Students can build their own creators through adding different body the when the students are done building their creator a description of each body is listed for the student to read and learn about their new creator.  This site also has a direct link to the New York City Zoos and Aquariums for students to learn more about different animals.

TALK - Technology Assisting Literacy Knowledge 

This site has great resources on how to include literacy in Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies and Special Areas.  All of them have a bunch of different and great activities! They are divided up into the different content areas and then divided up further into grade level, software needed, and all content areas involved.

Here is a blog with ideas to connect Social Studies and English.  This site is aimed for secondary level but a lot of the ideas can be changed into younger graders as well.

  1. I really like all of these. My favorite is "Build Your Wild Self". I had alot of fun making new animals and would love to use this in the classroom.
